The USA U23s lost to England U23s today but won the Nordic Tournament on goal difference. Both teams went into this game unbeaten with the title up for grabs. USA scored first but Chelsea’s Bethany England equalised taking the score to 1-1 at full time. Penalties followed and England won out 3-1, however because of
England U23 won their second game of the Nordic Tournament by 1-0 with the only goal scored by Claudia Walker. In the other match the USA won against Norway 2-1. England will play the USA on Tuesday. Injuries to Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah (Everton), Danielle Carter (Arsenal) and Elisha N’Dow (Aston Villa) have resulted in Millie Bright (Chelsea), Aoife Mannion (Birmingham City), Taome Oliver (Notts County), Claudia Walker (Everton) and Paige Williams (Brescia) being called up to the England U23 squad for the Nordic Tournament. Sunderland’s Beth Mead and Everton’s Ellie Stewart have also withdrawn from the squad.
