Bristol Ladies made it three from three with convincing win over Worcester Valkyries on Saturday.
A dominant performance saw Bristol put nine tries passed the Valkyries who were hindered by two yellow cards within two minutes during the first half.
Izzy Noel Smith and Marlie Packer (sponsored by Jones Building Group) opened the scoring for Bristol in the first 10 minutes, with Packer safely guiding the ball over the line a second time from a driving maul off the back of a line out. Amber Reed (sponsored by Colston’s School) added a penalty kick taking the score to 0 – 20 after 20 minutes.
After 30 minutes Meg Jones – who was on restricted play time post the Olympics – was replaced by Olympian Jasmine Joyce and eight minutes later Joyce helped Lottie Holland (sponsored by Gooch and Housego) score under the post. The score was 3 – 27 at half time, as Worcester successfully kicked a penalty.
The second half started with the same intent as the first, seeing tries from Jasmin Joyce (2), Sasha Acheson (sponsored by Empica PR), Chantelle Miell and Clara Nielson. Amber Reed was on form with her conversions, and at 70 minutes to score stood at 3 – 60 to the away team.
Worcester piled on the pressure for the last ten minutes, determined to come away with something – and their persistence paid off with a try on 76 minutes. Bristol were disappointed to concede so late on in the game, however, were extremely pleased with the score line and the manner in which this was achieved.
Bristol Ladies finish this round of the Premiership maintaining their place at the top of the table. Lichfield are in second place on points difference. Bristol have only conceded 16 points this season, a try and three penalties, whilst we have scored 141 points, from 22 tries, from 14 different players. Marlie Packer is our currently leading the try scoring with five from the last three games.
