The stage is now set for the women’s rugby league County of Origin match which will be played at Hunslet Hawks ground the John Charles Stadium, Hunslet, LS11 5DJ on the 31st January with kick off at 2.30pm – alongside the men’s BARLA Cup match. Admission price is just £5 for adults, concessions £3 and under 16s FREE.
The Yorkshire squad has been announced and we should soon be able to reveal the Lancashire squad.
In the meantime WRLA have announced that Xamax will be sponsoring the Women’s Rugby League Association for the next 12 months and will be supplying both Yorkshire and Lancashire teams with polo-shirts, hoodies and track pants for both Yorkshire and Lancashire squads. Thanks go to Craig Taylor, the Yorkshire coach, who secured the deal and also Amy Ratcliffe of Thornhill Trojans who works for Xamax and came forward when she knew that WRLA were actively seeking sponsorship. This sponsorship is a huge boost for the League and will make a massive difference to them in the coming months..
So far the County of Origin competition has been held four times with the results split evenly between the two counties – Origin 5 will put one side in the lead, at least until 2017!
