On Thursday 1st June Olympique Lyonnais held on to the Champions League trophy by beating Paris St-Germain on penalties (after the game remained at 0-0 after extra time). Olympique Lyonnais, the defending champions, held their nerve to win 7-6 and take the trophy for the fourth time.
But the women’s football season wasn’t quite over as the last games in the Spring Series were played on Saturday. Chelsea Ladies, needed to win their game against Birmingham in order to win the Spring Series, and they duly obliged with a 2-0 victory. Manchester City women, behind Chelsea on goal difference battled hard but their fate was out of their hands.
Next we look forward to the Euros which take place in July in the Netherlands. England kick-off their Euro 2017 campaign against Scotland in Utrecht on 19 July, followed by Spain in Breda on 23 July and Portugal in Tilburg on 27 July.
