Allianz Premier 15s – Round 18

I hope you are less emotional than me.

If you are, then you can withstand the sight of two clubs passing out of their current existence on the same day.

It’s no surprise that DMP Sharks and Wasps were the last two clubs to post their sides for the last time.

For Bristol the excellent news is the return of Alysha Butchers to the fray; for Wasps, somewhat less delightful.

For the top-of-the table clash with the Chiefs Sean Lynn is either playing canny or he has some injury worries.  No Emma Sing, no Sarah Beckett, no Mo Hunt.  Is he keeping his powder dry for the bigger battles to come in the play-off stages? Still, it’s a formidable side he can put out.

The only big battle remaining in the league is between Chiefs and Saracens to claim second spot. Sarries need a bonus-point away win against Lightning while Chiefs fall to Glos-Pury.

Once again Lightning appear at Franklin’s Gardens rather than Epinal Way. It will be fascinating to see how their programme for next season works out. Having a second home is some people’s dream, but for a rugby club not a sure recipe for success.

Fixtures (all games kick off at 14.00 BST):

DMP v Sale
Glos-Pury v Exeter
Lightning v Saracens
Worcester v Quins
Wasps v Bristol
