Manchester Thunder welcome Celtic Dragons for Pink Week

  • +1

The Black and Yellows will look to keep up the winning momentum against the Welsh outfit in the Superleague, while also fundraising for Cancer Research UK.

Head coach Karen Greig believes it is important for netball to get involved with fundraising for charity, especially with the sport growing in popularity.

She said: “It’s really important that netball supports such a great charity.

“Cancer will affect everyone at some point in their lives so it is important charities that are doing all they can to improve treatments are supported.”

Thunder’s confidence is building following a solid win over Sirens last time out and they will look to secure their second victory of the season in front of their home fans in round four.

Greig is looking for improvements from her squad from week-to-week, and the victory over Sirens was an example of the hard working players are putting in, in training, to get results.

“Last week was a great result for us, all I am asking of the squad is that we make improvements and learn each week and I believe we are doing that,” she says.

“Dragons have run a couple of teams close and are searching for their first points on the board.

“They have an experienced mid court and Kalifa McCollin has proven to be a great signing for them.”

The goal is to produce a consistent performance across all four quarters, and Greig thinks the game against Dragons is the perfect way to achieve that.

She added: “This (consistency in four quarters) is something we are hoping for tomorrow, to take our second win.

“That backed with our eighth player – our fans – hopefully we will get the result we want.”

Limited tickets available on the door at the Thunderdome. First centre pass 5pm.
