Chambers continues to strengthen Royals squad with the addition of midfielder Brooke Chaplen.
Kelly Chambers has added attacking midfielder Brooke Chaplen to her side, the 27 year-old has joined on a permanent deal after her contract with Sunderland expired at the end of the 2016 season.
Before moving to the north-east Chaplen, who has represented England at U19s, U20s and U23s levels, had spent five years at Everton Ladies, where she won the 2010 Women’s FA Cup. Prior to this Brooke had a season at Chelsea Ladies from 2008-2009, where she played with current royals right-back Becky Jane.
Chambers on Chaplen: “I have always liked Brooke as a player even back when she was a youngster playing at Portsmouth. Brooke is a really exciting addition to my squad and I’m excited to start working with her. She is a goal scoring midfield player who definitely adds to my attacking options and fits well into our style of play”.
Chaplen cited the quality of the football, the coaching staff, the facilities, and the potential she believes the club and it’s players have as the primary reasons for her signing: “The club have transitioned in a positive way, deciding it’s important to go full-time, which is really important in this league. The quality of the facilities you use and the coaching staff and how important the preparation is here, it’s such a plus for players to have this.
“The quality of the football here and how much potential I think the players here and the club has going forward, was the deciding factor for me”.
