Pentathlon GB’s Youth team prepare for Olympic Hopes

  • +1

Pentathlon GB’s youth athletes will head to Hungary for the 2016 Olympic Hopes competition at the end of October. The event presents a fantastic opportunity for upcoming athletes to gain international experience with Pentathlon GB sending a 10 strong team to the event.

Most of the athletes selected will be making their 2016 international debuts and the youngsters will all compete in the modern tetrathlon format (swim, fence, combined run-shoot)

The boys’ team contains Hartpury College’s Oliver Murray – younger brother of Samantha – and Kieran Harby who claimed victory at the U17 British Modern Pentathlon Championships in June. They will be joined Okan Onay who trains at Oxfordshire Pentathlon and Lincolnshire’s William Swain.

The girls’ team contains Zoe Davison who finished 4th at both the National Pentathlon and National Tetrathlon Championships this year and North Kent Modern Pentathlon Club’s Gabriella Eltham. They will be joined by Yorkshire Pentathlon duo Jenna Flintoff and Abbie Holyoake.

Abby Lebus, who is currently 5th on the U17 Girls British Ranking List and recently moved to Millfield School, and Rossall Pentathlon Academy’s Katie Hughes complete the team.
