Russia have been confirmed as top seed in the 16-team final repechage tournament taking place this weekend in Dublin from 25-26 June. The prize for the winner of the tournament is the final qualification spot for Rio 2016.
Two teams from each pool of four will progress to the quarter-finals where it will be a straight shoot-out for progression into the final, which will be played at 18:30 local time on day two. Only the winners will join the 11 other sides in Rio for the historic return of rugby to the summer Olympic Games programme after a break of 92 years.
The women’s sevens at the Games will take place from 6-8 August in the Deodoro Olympic Park with the men’s event running from 9-11 August at the same venue.
