Asisat Oshoala named BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year

Asisat Oshoala, who became the first African player to play in the Superleague when she signed for Liverpool in January 2015, has been named the BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year. Oshoala, at just 20 was the youngest player nominated for the BBC World Service award, was voted for by football fans from around the world.

Mark Sampson names squad for World Cup

This afternoon Mark Sampson  named his 23 player England squad for next month’s FIFA Women’s World Cup. The head coach has kept faith with the majority of the players who helped the Lionesses make it to Canada 2015 with a 100 per cent record. Of the 23-player squad, only Chelsea duo Claire Rafferty and Katie Chapman
