In winning Oshoala, from Nigeria, beat beat off talented opposition in Spain’s Veronica Boquete, German Nadine Kessler, Scot Kim Little and Brazilian Marta.

Liverpool manager Matt Beard has called Oshoala “one of the world’s top young footballers”.

The award, coming as it does just days before the beginning of the Women’s World Cup tournament in Canada is sure to be a boost to both Asisat Oshoala and her Nigerian team-mates.  Lucky football fans will have the chance to see her in action when Nigeria take on Sweden on 8th June in their first match of the World Cup finals.
