Harlequins have confirmed that Harriet Millar-Mills has retired from rugby, following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.
A stalwart of the game, Millar-Mills has enjoyed a glittering career at both club and international level.
A dynamic, all-action forward, Millar-Mills won 66 caps for her country, having won her first cap in 2011 against France, and having also represented England at 7s. Throughout her career, she represented the Red Roses at the 2017 Rugby World Cup, as well as being part of many Six Nations winning sides, the most recent being the 2021 Grand Slam triumph.
Millar-Mills’ club career saw her represent Firwood Waterloo, Lichfield, Wasps, Exeter Chiefs and Harlequins at the top table of the English game, being named as the Premiership’s Players’ Player of the Year in 2015/16 and 2016/17.
Reflecting on the decision to call time on her career, Millar-Mills expressed her joy at being able to live out her dream as a professional player.
“If I was told at 8 years old when I first picked up a rugby ball that I would one day play for England and be a professional rugby player I would never have believed it. I love that I have been able to play through the transition from non-professional to professional, and I am excited to watch women’s rugby grow even more.
I want to say thank you to everyone, throughout my career, who has supported me, especially all my teammates, friends, family, coaches, physios, analysts, S&C coaches and support staff who have pushed me to be better throughout the years. I am very proud of everything I have been able to achieve and experience through rugby because of this support.
A final thank you to Quins as well. I have loved my final season of rugby and this is what makes it so bittersweet to walk away from the game.”
With thanks from Harlequins
