Western Storm will have a new look and a new website in 2018 as Heather Knight’s team look to defend their KIA Super League title.
This years KIA Super League will be twice as big as it has been in the past two years, with all teams playing each other both home and away.
In addition to this, the popularity of women’s cricket is at an all time high following England’s dramatic ICC World Cup victory at Lord’s last summer.
To reflect this, it was felt that Western Storm required their own website in order to keep supporters up to date with all the very latest news, previews and match reports.
In addition to this we can today reveal that the Western Storm logo has been redesigned, as General Manager Lisa Pagett explains.
“The 2018 KIA Super League will be bigger and better than ever before,” she said. “The new format will see twice as much action and to reflect that we have decided to rebrand Western Storm with a new logo. We are half way through our Kia Super League hosting rights and with a huge amount of work underway to move Western Storm forward on the pitch, we felt the time was right to move Western Storm forward off the pitch too.
“Whilst we are maintaining the core colour scheme of green and black, we have selected a brighter and more vivid green. The new colour scheme, when partnered with the new logo creates an exciting brand which looks great on the new playing kit and all our associated creative material.
“The KSL is all about exciting and colourful cricket and we feel that this re-brand reflects exactly that.”
In the past, Western Storm supporters have been kept up to date by articles on the websites of Somerset County Cricket Club and Gloucestershire County Cricket Club. However, due to the popularity of Western Storm, the team will now have their own designated website, making them the first KSL team to have their own stand-alone facility.
Regarding the website Lisa said: “To have our own website is extremely exciting. Somerset and Gloucestershire have done a great job in keeping supporters up to date with what is going on in the world of Western Storm and the two counties will continue to provide all the content. However, having our own website will give us the opportunity to cover a far greater array of news, match-day information and all the other details that Western Storm supporters could possibly need.
“We would like to thank Somerset and Gloucestershire along with Peloton Design for creating the new logo and Liquorice Creative for constructing the new website.
“It’s a really exciting time for the women’s game and to be at the forefront of that is something very special.”
