Why thousands across the midlands are getting muddy this June

  • +1

Thousands of runners will head to the Midlands next month as The Wolf Run brings back its Summer Wolf event on 13–14 June.

Taking place at Stanford Hall in Leicestershire, the event will see participants take on a mix of mud, water and obstacle challenges across a course designed for all abilities, across 10k, 5k or junior distances.

Wolf Run, which was founded 15 years ago by brothers Charlie and Will Moreton, has built a strong following over the years, growing from just a few hundred runners at its first event to welcoming tens of thousands each year.

Summer Wolf is one of the standout weekends in the calendar, with entrants able to take on the course at their own pace. There’s no pressure to compete, with the focus instead on getting round, helping others and enjoying the experience.

The course features everything from deep mud sections to water crossings and climbing obstacles, with runners encouraged to work together as they go. Groups are common, with friends, families and colleagues often taking part side by side, as a ‘Pack’.

Away from the course, the event has a relaxed, festival feel. A central event village will include music, food and space for participants and spectators to spend time before and after their run.

Charlie Moreton, Founder at The Wolf Run said: “Summer Wolf is always a brilliant weekend. It’s about getting stuck in, having a laugh and challenging yourself, whether you’re coming on your own or as part of a group.

“We see a real mix of people taking part and coming along. It’s as much about the day out as it is the course itself.”

Spectators are welcome across the weekend, with plenty of opportunities to watch runners tackle the course, while enjoying the event village with activities for the whole family.
