The winners of the Barclays Women’s Championship awards for November have now been confirmed.
Firstly, Sunderland’s Eleanor Dale was named as Player of the Month after emerging victorious in the combined public and panel vote having scored four goals in three matches as Sunderland won all their league games in November to power up the table.
The striker opened the month with a double in the Black Cats’ dramatic 4-3 win over Bristol City before she netted the winner in a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Blackburn Rovers and pounced five minutes from time to score the only goal against Sheffield United.
Dale saw off competition from Bristol City’s Lexi Lloyd-Smith, Durham’s Mollie Lambert and Southampton’s Tara Bourne to take the award.
Goal of the Month meanwhile was awarded to Sheffield United’s Maria Farrugia for a second successive month, with her effort against Portsmouth topping the voting polls.
Fresh from a Player and Goal award double in October, Farrugia came out on top once again in November having been up against Sunderland’s Katie Kitching (v Bristol City) and Aimee Palmer (v Durham), Durham’s Michaela Foster (v Blackburn Rovers) and London City Lionesses’ Isobel Goodwin (v Durham).
Finally, the League Managers’ Association announced last week that Sunderland’s Mel Reay had been voted Barclays Women’s Championship Manager of the Month for November by a panel of Faye White, Mo Marley MBE, Brent Hills, Jen O’Neill, Alan Curbishley, and Mollie Kmita.
The Black Cats picked up nine points over the course of three games during November to move themselves into fifth position in the Barclays Women’s Championship table ahead of the final month of the year.
