England Women ended their IT20 series against India with a five-wicket defeat at Wankhede Stadium.
England headed into the match having sealed the series following victories in the first two meetings. They made four changes from last night’s fixture, Maia Bouchier, Danielle Gibson, Bess Heath and Mahika Gaur coming into the XI.
Captain Heather Knight’s half century ensured England ended the innings on 126 all out on a difficult night with the bat.
India started well and Renuka Singh struck third ball dismissing Maia Bouchier.
Shreyanka Patil and Saiqa Ishaque took three wickets each.
Amy Jones scored 25 before she and Gibson then IT20 debutant Heath and Freya Kemp were then dismissed in consecutive balls.
India made a subdued start to their chase when Shafali Verma was bowled by Kemp for six.
Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues put on 57 for the second wicket.
Rodrigues was trapped lbw by Charlie Dean but Mandhana rallied India to within 15 runs of victory before she was well caught at point by Sophia Dunkley, who earned her 50th IT20 England cap.
Amanjot Kaur’s 13, made up of three fours from just four balls, earned India victory.
The two teams will now contest a four-day Test match (14-17 December) at DY Patil Stadium.
