Harlequins name side to face Sale Sharks

Harlequins Women’s Head Coach Amy Turner has named her side to face Sale Sharks at Heywood Road on Sunday.

Harlequins travel north to face a Sale side who will be seeking revenge following these side’s last meeting at The Stoop. Last time out, Harlequins came away 40-3 victors, but the trip to Heywood Road brings a very different challenge to the travelling Quins side.

Harlequins’ front row remains unchanged from last week’s, with England international and co-captain Amy Cokayne lining up between props Hannah Sims and Chloe Edwards.

Having arrived at Quins earlier this week, Springbok Women’s prop Babalwa Latsha is in line to make her debut for the Club, being amongst the Impact Players.

Wallaroo Kaitlan Leaney comes into the second row alongside Scotland’s Sarah Bonar, a partnership that dominated physically when the two sides met earlier in the season.

A new-look Harlequins back row sees Katy Mew shift across to number 8 in the absence of Jade Konkel-Roberts, who continues to recover from ankle surgery. Lauren Brooks comes into the Starting XV at blindside flanker, with Wallaroo Emily Chancellor wearing seven on the openside.

In the backs, co-captain Emily Scott moves back to fly half, and Australian international Bella McKenzie starts at inside centre. Lagi Tuima starts at outside centre and will make her 50th appearance for the Club, having started all Harlequins’ Allianz Premier 15s games this season.

Ella Amory and Freya Aucken start on the wings, with Red Rose Abby Dow moving to fullback for the first time in a Harlequins jersey. Winger Lauren Torley returns to the match day 23 from GB Sevens duty, for the first time since Quins faced Bristol in December, and is named amongst the Impact Players.

Amy Turner said “Sale are big hitters so we’re expecting a physical battle on Sunday. It’s really important we win the collision and assert our physical dominance on the game early – we know they’ll be fired up after the result earlier in the season, so we need to start well and put in a good 80-minute performance.

“We were disappointed with the result on Saturday against Saracens, but we’ve had a good week’s preparation, the girls are fired up for it and are looking forward to righting the wrongs from last weekend”.
