Harlequins announce squad for 2022/2023 Season

  • +1

Harlequins Women’s Head Coach Amy Turner has announced her finalised squad ahead of the 2022/23 Allianz Premier 15s season.

The squad of 55 features 12 players from the four nations that competed in the 2021 Rugby World Cup, as well as 10 Development Players as the Club continues to build for the future.

Centre Rachael Burford will continue as Club Captain this season, with Emily Scott, Amy Cokayne and Emily Robinson taking up co-captain roles this campaign.

Sevens internationals Ellie Boatman and Lauren Torley come into the squad, bolstering Quins’ attacking threat across the back three. Emily Chancellor, Bella McKenzie and Kaitlan Leaney join up with Harlequins following their 2021 Rugby World Cup campaign with Australia. With McKenzie and Leaney already linked up with the squad, Chancellor will arrive at The Stoop in January 2023.

England prop Bryony Cleall and France back row Lenaig Corson add physicality upfront and complete a fantastic list of new signings for the 2022-23 season.

Ahead of her first Allianz Premier 15s season as Harlequins’ Head Coach, Amy Turner said: “I think we’ve retained an incredibly talented group and we’ve recruited where we felt we needed to. We’re in a good space in terms of the depth and strength of our squad, I think it’s the biggest squad we’ve had.

“Bella McKenzie and Kaitlan Leaney arrived this week and they were in yesterday, I’m excited to see how they join the group and what they can add to this squad.

“Bryony Cleall linked up with us this week, she’s an incredibly intelligent rugby player so to get her contributions around the technical and tactical aspects of the game will be invaluable to us.

“Lenaig Corson is a natural ball carrier with lots of international experience in both 7s and 15s. Her carrying ability is going to add an extra layer to our game.”

Harlequins kick off their Allianz Premier 15s season this weekend as they welcome Worcester Warriors Women to the Stoop on Sunday (20th November).
