Durham Women FC have confirmed that Sarah Wilson has signed a new contract with the club.
The club captain has committed her future to the side ahead of the 2022/23 Barclays Women’s Championship campaign.
Wilson initially joined the club from Newcastle United in 2014 and has gone on to establish herself as a key player in the starting line-up.
Handed the captain’s armband in 2015, the defender has gone on to make 175 appearances for Durham and was recently named as our 2021/22 Player of the Year.
And now Wilson is looking forward to an exciting new campaign.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be staying with the club next season,” she said.
“I love everything about this club, the values and what we are trying to achieve. I’m really excited to be a part of this squad.”
And the skipper is relishing the opportunity to be able to train on a full-time basis for the first time in her career.
“It’s incredible and so exciting for the club,” she added.
“There has been so much work gone into making this happen, and I am very grateful to have the opportunity. It’s something that I’ve dreamed of being able to do since I first started playing when I was eight years old.
“Personally I didn’t think I would ever get the chance so it’s an opportunity that I’m going to grab with both hands.
“The direction this club is moving in is something to be very excited about, especially for our younger players coming though.”
