Wasps Head West for the Return of Premier 15s

  • +1

With the Six Nations competition over, Allianz Premier 15s returns for the final two rounds and first up is a trip west to face Gloucester Hartpury.

Wasps currently sit in 5th place in the table, just five points behind Harlequins and with Loughborough sitting close behind them. However, with just nine points separating 2nd to 5th place- it’s all to play for in these final fixtures.

Wasps last faced Gloucester Hartpury at the CBS Arena and flew their way to a victory. Fuelled by their last Premier 15s performance, with a thrilling win against Harlequins, Wasps are confident for this weekend now that the tables have turned and Gloucester have the home advantage.

Director of Rugby and Head Coach Giselle Mather has named her team which includes the return of Abi Burton and Ciara Cooney from injury.  Amy Wilson-Hardy and Ellie Boatman also join us from the Sevens circuit. Not to be forgotten, Maud Muir and Bryony Cleall return from England duty after a Six Nations Grand Slam Victory!

Cleall and Muir return to the front row either side of Cliodhna Moloney. Cooney returns from injury to start in the second row alongside Harriet Millar Mills. Claire Molloy will captain the side from seven with Christiana Balogun on her opposite side and Elizabeth Crake at number eight to complete the pack.

Sammy Wong moves in from her stint on the wing to start at scrum half with Flo Williams outside her at ten. It’s a sevens sensation in the centres with Burton at twelve and Wilson Hardy at thirteen acting as vice captain. Shannon Touhey and Boatman fly wide on the wing with Lizzie Goulden completing the starting line up at fullback.

Heather Kerr returns to head up the bench alongside the fearless French combination of Melanie COmbebias and Helene Caux. Gemma Rowland also returns from the Welsh training squad to add a wealth of experience to the game.
