Harlequins Women Head Coach Gerard Mullen has named a much changed match day squad that will travel to Ashton Gate on Saturday afternoon looking to further cement their place in the playoff positions.
After winning the TikTok Women’s Six Nations Grand Slam, nine of the ten players involved in the Red Roses squad are named within the starting XV including and all England international front row. Blindside flanker Katy Mew is set for her first start in the Premier 15s in 2022 after returning from injury during the latter stages of the Allianz Cup.
In the back line Emily Scott slots back into the ten jersey and after an impressive return Beth Blacklock is chosen at outside centre. The back three is nothing short of electric with Jess Breach, Heather Cowell and Ellie Kildunne all starting in the Famous Quarters.
A win for Harlequins would close the gap on second place Bears and Mullen is excited at the prospect of visiting the West Country on the weekend. Mullen said: “We’re still in a position where we can achieve everything we want to achieve and it doesn’t get much bigger then the next two weeks playing at Ashton Gate and then Franklin’s Gardens in front of big crowds. Bristol are a strong outfit and have had a big injection of support this season. They run the ball really well with Joyce out wide but are also strong up front so we need to be on it to secure the win.”
