Durham Women RTC Agree Sponsorship Deal With Kepier School

  • +1

Kepier School is playing their part in supporting aspiring female footballers in the region – having partnered with Durham Women FC to sponsor the club’s Regional Talent Club.

The Regional Talent Club (RTC) offers talented youngsters in the North East a direct pathway towards the elite end of the game at Durham, who currently play in the FA Women’s Championship.

Younger teams in the RTC play against teams across the North East, while the older age groups travel further afield to play some of the best teams in the country.

And they will all have the Kepier logo proudly emblazoned across their shirts during the 2021/2022 season.

Speaking about the sponsorship, Durham Women Pathway and Development Manager Maddy Wood said: “We’re delighted to have Kepier sponsoring our RTC kits for the season.

“Their support is really important as we look to continue offering a first-class experience to young players in the region as we look to develop the next generation of female talent.

“It’s great to see the school showing such strong support to female football in the region and we look forward to working with Kepier on more projects to engage young players moving forward.”

Principal of Kepier, Nicky Ashton, added: “We really do value the partnership with Durham Women, which is such a strong foundation on which to grow the very best players. We are very excited about the future as the School grows from strength to strength and this partnership is already proving beneficial.”

This is the latest step in the growing partnership between Kepier and Durham Women, who earlier this year launched a Youth Development Programme at the Houghton-le-Spring School.

The Youth Development Programme gives both male and female pupils at the school a chance to pursue a career in football while ensuring their studies are not affected.

The programme is aimed at pupils who will be moving into Year 7 and Year 8 in September 2022 and wish to take up the opportunity to study at Kepier while forming part of the football programme.

Members of the Youth Development Programme will receive specialised coaching alongside a structured timetable of lessons with the aim of becoming a part of Durham Women FC’s dual-career pathway.

The timetable on offer to members of the programme will ensure they receive five sessions of coaching per week within school hours, with training sessions scheduled so as not to affect core subjects.
