The evening the first game of The Hundred will take place at the Kia Oval, featuring the Oval Invincibles v Manchester Originals. It is a stand alone women’s fixture, tomorrow the men’s fixture will take place and thereafter each day both men’s and women’s games will be played at the same venue – women playing first.
Whether you are excited about this new format or sceptical or even wondering why a new format is necessary when there are already several different competitions, the good thing is that there will be more live cricket and it will be shown on the BBC therefore reaching a wider audience.
Sadly the current situation with the virus has meant that some of the famous names will not be joining but hopefully that will mean that other talented players will be able to step up.
