Yeovil Town Ladies FC can confirm that eighteen year old forward player Paige Sawyer, has joined the green and whites, from local side Bristol City Women.

Sawyer, despite being a Bristol player for many years, has not featured in nearly as many FA WSL matches, as her ability deserves, and following her release from the Vixens last week, has signed a one year deal, which will see her grace FA Women’s Super League One top flight football at Yeovil Town Ladies FC.

In 2016, Sawyer was selected for the England Colleges National Squad, which then also lead to her being selected in Mo Marley’s U18/19 England Development Camp, making 12 first team appearances for Bristol City along the way.

In the 2017 Spring Series season, she featured just the once, with her previous club opting for loan players over their developing youth, despite her being one of their best products out of their programme and pathway.

On joining Yeovil, Sawyer said “After speaking with Jamie on the ethos and passion of this club, I believe that it will help me develop as a player and achieve both my own and the clubs ambitions.

“I am excited to be starting a new chapter in my football career and look forward to the challenges ahead for the new season in a green and white shirt.”

Manager Jamie Sherwood said “Paige is a player I have known for a number of years. She was actually Katie’s [wife of Jamie Sherwood] first mascot when she played for Bristol.

“Paige has an opportunity to further her development with us. She has had an excellent education and she brings with her a fresh desire, energy and willingness to the goal we will set out for her as an individual and us as a group.

“When we sat down and first spoke about the possibility of her becoming a green and white, what impressed me most was she had three targets already set for her season ahead.

“She is part of a new fresh energy we are looking to harness ahead of the upcoming winter season and I am looking forward to seeing her further her development with us.”
