After success of U13s Morley RUFC look to develop female section

  • +1

Moving on from last year’s successful U13s girls first season, Morley RUFC are holding an U15 and U18 training session to further develop the female section of their Club.

The lads from the RFU central Yorkshire development team will be on hand to assist delivery. The training session will take place at the club on Monday the 5th of June 7-8:30 pm. There has already been a great response on social media with around 30 girls between both age groups confirming attendance.

They are looking for girls in school years 9 to 13 from September. Anyone who is interested can just turn up on the night or contact Craig Taylor at Craig.taylor1609@hotmail.co.uk to register interest.

Whether you have played Rugby League, Rugby Union or no rugby at all it doesn’t matter everyone is welcome.

Coach Craig Taylor said, “I think there is a place for players in the female game to be dual code. I came into the game last season after four years in women and girls rugby league. I’m now a dual code coach, have learned new skills, and coaching methods.

“A large number of my league girls have benefited from playing union last season. There are new skills and transferable skills that each code can learn from. Morley are a great little club with proud heritage it’s great to be part of it. They want to develop a successful female section.

“League and Union start with the same word RUGBY. We need to be doing all we can to get more women, and girls active. Helping grow confidence and access all the benefits that come from playing a team sport.”

Come give rugby a try and release your #Innerwarrior!
