A bonus point victory over former league leaders Drybrook Ladies sees Bristol Ladies 2nd XV claim to top spot of the Women’s Championship South West.
The final score ended 5 – 43, as Bristol scored three unanswered tries in the first half through Jessie Hood, Sue Neumann and Vicky Foxwell, with one conversion from the boot of Sarah Graham taking the score to 0 – 17.
Drybrook hit back straight after the break, however a dominant Bristol scored again through Foxwell. Rownita Marston crossed the line for two of her own tries, and replacement Kathryn Buggy also crossed. Graham kicked three conversions.
This was a solid all round performance for the team with a few new faces. Georgia Liddington and Alanna Alevropoulos made their Bristol Ladies debut today, whilst Georgia Bradley was back in a Bristol shirt after a few seasons away from the club.
Forward of the game went to Natalie Lewis for some great work around kick offs and a brilliant work rate. Back of the game went to Vicky Foxwell.
Next week the 1st XV will be back in action against Darlington Mowden Park Sharks in a double header with Bristol Rugby and Newcastle Falcons on Saturday the 8th, whilst the 2nd XV face Guildford RFC at home at Cleve RFC on Sunday 9th. With both teams heading into these fixtures top of their respective leagues it’s going to be a weekend to keep and eye on.
