Wakefield Trinity Ladies notched their first win yesterday with a 10-0 victory against East Leeds Ladies.
The game was played as a curtain raiser for the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats v Catalan game at their stadium Belle Vue so there was a lot of pressure on the team as they played in a big stadium, in front of a large home crowd.
With all eyes upon them Wakefield Trinity Ladies put on a good show and the crowd were treated to a great game of rugby league. The home side didn’t have it all their own way though as East Leeds Ladies forced the Wakefield Trinity Ladies to put in a colossal defensive effort.
The try scorers for Trinity were captain Yasmin Copeland (with a staggering 70 metre try) and Casey Lemm on her debut appearance for the team. The conversion was added by Nicole Austin.
Trinity were overjoyed with the win after a game played with all the heart, spirit and passion that epitomises what sport should be about.
Chris Chester the Head Coach of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats showed his support from the sidelines giving the team some great encouragement.
Trinity has also benefited from Chris’s coaching, as he had given up time to coach them one session a week for the past three weeks, which has been a fantastic experience for coaches and players alike. And, considering he has still had to prepare his own team for their Super 8’s fixtures is a tremendous effort and an illustration of great Club unity. The Wakefield Trinity Ladies are very grateful for his insight and input.
The Wakefield Trinity Ladies are currently recruiting for their 2017 season and are looking for players aged 16+ and no experience required. If you are interested in finding out what rugby league is all about then please contact Jo Phillips (Head Coach) at Jojoelle@hotmail.co.uk
