Most people will be surprised that Sweden will be facing Germany in the Final tonight, rather than Brazil, in fact most people would have been expecting the USA to romp to victory against Sweden in the quarter finals. But it was not to be.
There has been a lot of criticism of the way in which Sweden play, and it may not be pretty, but Sweden are in the final and Pia Sundhage will be after Gold for her team tonight.
The game is an intriguing one, although Germany will have been one of the favourites, they have not really clicked into top gear yet, however, if anyone can work out how to unlock the Swedish defence it will be the canny Silvia Neid. Neid will be stepping down after the Final, so she too will be after a final flourish.
