Thomas Cook Sport – official partner to Lancashire County Cricket Club – have become the official travel provider for the newly-formed Kia Super League team Lancashire Thunder.
The travel provider recently renewed their partnership at Emirates Old Trafford for a further three years giving supporters the chance to experience the unique atmosphere of the Thomas Cook Sport Terrace.
As well as being official match sponsor for the double header on Friday 29th July, which will see Lancashire Thunder take on Loughborough Lightning earlier in the day before Lancashire Lightning take on Birmingham Bears in the NatWest T20 Blast in the evening, Thomas Cook Sport will also lend their organisational expertise to Thunder this summer – and the relationship is already proving beneficial to the women’s side as General Manager Bobby Cross explained.
“We have been keen from the outset that the players are treated in a very professional manner and the way in which Thomas Cook Sport has dealt with our travel arrangements for the competition perfectly fits with this aim,” said Cross.
“The fact that they are vastly experienced in providing travel and hotels for a wide array of elite sporting organisations, both for players and supporters, means that we can trust that our players and staff will be looked after in a professional manner and can concentrate on the cricket.
“We are delighted to be involved with Thomas Cook Sport and look forward to seeing some of our players in the Terrace over the summer. It represents significant vision on the part of the company to see the potential for the Kia Super League and the women’s game in general and their desire to become involved is a great boost to all concerned.”
Rob Slawson, Head of Thomas Cook Sport, added: “We’re delighted that our relationship with Lancashire County Cricket Club has opened up an opportunity to become involved with the Thunder side. Women’s cricket is growing and developing at an amazing rate and we’re delighted to be working with the Thunder girls.
“We will deliver the best possible travel solutions to ensure that all they need to concentrate on is delivering on the pitch and taking the women’s game to even greater levels.”
Lancashire Thunder will play Loughborough Lightning at Emirates Old Trafford on Friday 29 July prior to the final NatWest T20 Blast group fixture that sees Lancashire Lightning take on Birmingham Bears.
The Kia Super League sees two further home fixtures for the Thunder when they host Southern Vipers at Blackpool CC on Friday 5 August and they will finish the group stages with a floodlit game against Yorkshire Diamonds at Emirates Old Trafford on Friday 12 August.
