Yeovil Town got off the mark this FA WSL 2 season at the third time of asking with a second-half blitz at Oxford United.
After a goalless first half, strikes from Corinne Yorston, Nicola Cousins and Annie Heatherson (pictured above) secured the victory for the visitors, propelling Yeovil to fifth (table below) in the process as they leapfrogged their hosts.
Oxford United captain Sahara Osborne-Ricketts had the best chance of the first half as her free-kick hit the wall only to she her smash the rebound against the post.
The visitors’ best chance fell for Cousins who headed Helen Bleazard’s corner over from six yards out.
Yeovil changed all that quickly after the break though as Annie Heatherson’s lob over Demi Lambourne hit the bar only for Yorston to bundle the ball home to break the deadlock.
Cousins made up for her first-half miss after 61 minutes and powered in her header from another corner to double the visitors’ lead.
And it was 3-0 and game over after yet another Bleazard corner was not cleared properly and Heatherson poked the ball in at the back post.
