England Netball is delighted to announce that fans attending the England versus Malawi clash on 14th December at the Echo Arena in Liverpool can also look forward to watching Wales take on England ‘A’.  This fixture will precede the main event but tickets will be valid for both matches, meaning that fans now get two games for the price of one!

With the Netball World Cup on the horizon next summer, we are entering a critical stage in England’s preparation for netball’s biggest competition.  The England ‘A’ squad will give fans and coaches a chance to catch a glimpse of those competing for a place on the plane to Sydney.  It will also be a fantastic chance to see an old rivalry re-ignited as Wales make the short trip across the border into Liverpool. The visitors are currently ranked 8th in the world and will be competing alongside England at the World Cup next year.

Ian Holloway, Community Competition and Events Manager at England Netball said “We are thrilled to be welcoming Wales to participate in our December Series.  It will be a fantastic treat for our fans to be able to see four world class teams competing in one day and it will certainly be a great way to begin proceedings.”

Tim Banfield, commercial director of ACC Liverpool, home to Echo Arena and BT Convention Centre, said: “The forthcoming matches taking place at Echo Arena are a fantastic opportunity to really get behind this flourishing sport, it is particularly timely as we have submitted a bid to host the Netball World Cup here in Liverpool in 2019.  This is the city’s chance to show our enthusiasm and passion for sport and our continuing commitment to netball seen with past events such as the World Netball Series.  We encourage all sports fans to join in the excitement of this forthcoming match and get a glimpse of what the city can expect if we are successful in our bid.”

The England ‘A’ v Wales is due to start at 2:30pm with the centre-pass taking place for England v Malawi at 5:15pm.
