Harlequins Women have announced the appointment of Pat Metcalfe-Jones as Head of Women’s Rugby.

Metcalfe-Jones succeeds Andy Rhys Jones, who departs the Club to take up the role of Head of Women’s Performance and Pathways with Scotland.

She undertakes the new role having previously served as Head Coach at the University of Surrey, as well as Women’s Pathway Manager at Harlequins. As Head of Women’s Rugby, Metcalfe-Jones will work closely with Head Coach Ross Chisholm to continue driving the programme forward.

During her time as Women’s Pathway Manager, she has already helped develop and bring through a number of Senior Development Players into the Senior Harlequins Squad, including England age-grade internationals Zara Green and Maddy Page.

Metcalfe-Jones has also played an important role in the organisation of the new partnership between Harlequins Women and the University of Surrey ahead of the 2025/26 season.

She has driven the Pathway Programme forward significantly during her time in the role, with the side currently sitting at the top of BUCS Premier South and several young players already training within the Senior Harlequins Women’s environment, alongside their university education.

Prior to working at Harlequins, Metcalfe-Jones worked as the Head of Girls Rugby at City of Oxford College, having also worked for Wasps and England Rugby as Centre of Excellence Head Coach, developing young players within the England Pathway.

Chief Executive Officer Laurie Dalrymple said: “Pat has been at Quins since September 2024 and has been a real driving force behind the development of the pathway programme for Harlequins Women. We are delighted to have filled this role internally and have no doubt that, continuing to work with Ross and the team, Pat will continue to drive the programme forward at an incredibly exciting time for Women’s rugby.”

Within her role, Metcalfe-Jones will be responsible for managing all off-field aspects of the programme, alongside Ross Chisholm as Head Coach. This will involve strategy, staffing, recruitment, pathways and a range of operational responsibilities.

Speaking about being named as the new Head of Women’s Rugby, Metcalfe-Jones said: “It’s a huge honour to take on this role. I’ve seen first-hand the work Andy has done over recent years to drive the women’s programme at Harlequins forward, and I’m excited to build on those strong foundations. This is a hugely exciting opportunity, and I’m really looking forward to helping take the women’s programme to the next level at such a pivotal time for the women’s game.”

With thanks to Harlequins
