Durham Women FC have announced the loan signing of England youth international forward Aimee Claypole from Chelsea.

The striker joins us until the end of the 2024/25 season and becomes our first signing of the winter transfer window.

The 19-year-old forward scored 30 goals in 23 appearances for Chelsea in the 2022/23 Professional Game Academy league, before making her competitive first team debut against Aston Villa in the Women’s FA Cup in January 2023.

After signing for Durham, she said: “I’m really excited to be here. The ambition of the Club for the second half of the season is where I want to be as well.

“Hopefully it will be a good loan for me and also for the Club to try and push for promotion.”

Claypole made her Barclays Women’s Super League debut in March 2023, featuring in Chelsea’ win over Brighton before spending part of the 2023/24 season on loan at Lewes, scoring twice and providing three assists in just 11 appearances in the Barclays Women’s Championship.

She was on loan at Linkoping FC during the first half of this season, scoring three times in 13 games for the Swedish top flight side. She also featured in the UEFA Women’s Champions League during her time in Scandinavia.

On the international stage, the young forward has represented Finland at Under-15 and England at Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level.

Aimee will wear the number 15 shirt for Durham.
