Somerset County Cricket Club are pleased to announce the signing of 26-year-old seamer, Mollie Robbins.

The right-armer, who has signed an initial one-year contract, is a product of the Gloucestershire Academy and made her debut for the County in 2013.

In 21 List A matches for Gloucestershire, she claimed 37 wickets at an average of 11.24 with a best of five for 19.

She joined the Storm Academy in 2021 and made her debut later that year, fittingly at Bristol. In total she featured in 22 matches across the formats for Storm, taking 10 wickets with a best of three for 28.

She signed her first professional contract ahead of the 2024 season.

Regarding joining Somerset, Mollie said: “I feel really privileged to still be playing my cricket in the South West. I grew up here so to have the opportunity to inspire young girls in the region really means a lot to me.

“I feel a real sense of pride that we are going to be the first set of Somerset women in a professional setting. Aligning with the First Class Counties is a really exciting development for the women’s game and I’m looking forward to putting on that Somerset shirt and taking as many wickets as I can.”

Somerset Women Head Coach, Trevor Griffin said: “Mollie has the potential to cause batters serious problems. Her ability to generate bounce and swing makes her really stand out as someone to watch.

“There is plenty more to come from her and I’m excited to help her develop.”

SCCC Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry added: “We are pleased to have secured the services of a player who has a real connection to the West Country and who we sense has the potential to challenge opposition batters at both ends of the innings with the ball.

“Mollie has a real opportunity ahead of her to continue to build on her experiences, further develop her ability to deceive batters, and grow the impact she can have on winning games for Somerset.”

With thanks to Somerset CCC
