England cricketers to promote this summer’s Women’s Ashes Series

• England women’s players are set to deliver a series of school and community based events to encourage locals to support the 2015 Women’s Ashes Series.

This summer, England women’s cricketers will visit Chance to Shine primary and secondary schools surrounding the seven Women’s Ashes venues to inspire pupils to play cricket, alongside encouraging them to come along and watch England in action against Australia in July and August.

 

The school visits, which are being delivered in partnership with cricket charity Chance to Shine, will see Charlotte Edwards and the seven other England women’s Coaching Ambassadors deliver an abundance of England v Australia themed cricket activity for local pupils, to help build excitement around this summer’s multi-format Women’s Ashes Series.

 

The first Chance to Shine school event is taking place today (April 28), with England women’s cricketers Tammy Beaumont, Kate Cross, Lydia Greenway and Jenny Gunn visiting eight schools across the centre of Worcester – ahead of the Women’s Ashes Royal London One Day International (ODI) match at New Road on July 26.
Speaking about the Women’s Ashes themed school visits, England women’s captain, Charlotte Edwards, said: “I am really looking forward to visiting lots of Chance to Shine schools surrounding the Women’s Ashes venues this summer – it’s the perfect opportunity to spread the word locally about the series, and to encourage the kids to come along and watch us play.  We are aiming to win our third consecutive Women’s Ashes Series against Australia, and we want all the support we can get.  We love playing in front of big passionate crowds, so hopefully this will be the case at each of the venues throughout the summer.”

In addition to visiting local Chance to Shine schools, the England women’s players will also be delivering a range of other events in conjunction with the Women’s Ashes host venues ahead of the series.  So far, England women’s batsman, Lydia Greenway has been involved with the Essex CCC women and girls’ press day in Chelmsford earlier this month.  You can watch a video from the day here.
