Harlequins Women have announced the signing of scrum-half Emma Swords who has returned to the Club after one season away at Saracens Women.
Swords started her rugby career as a teenager spending time at London Irish and Esher before joining Saracens at the age of 17.
The scrum-half has joined Quins for the second time after spending the 2019/20 season in South West London before relocating back to NW4 ahead of the 2020/21 Allianz Premier 15s campaign.
The experienced nine is no stranger to high-pressure fixtures having featured in the last two Premier 15s finals for Saracens after missing the first due to a broken foot.
Speaking after signing, Swords said: “Having previously spent time with Quins I knew how great the environment is on and off the pitch. I’m really excited to be able to play under Gerard, pick his brains and develop myself as a player.
“I can’t wait to get back out on the pitch, get some more game time under my belt and help Quins retain their Allianz Premier 15s title next season!”
Head Coach Gerard Mullen added: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Emma back on board. She is an experienced scrum-half who will fit right back in with the environment we have at Quins.
“I’m confident that everyone at Harlequins will develop Emma into a great player and take her game to the next level. She is a very ambitious person, always wanting to push herself to become the best she can possibly be, and I’m really excited to have her back at Quins!”
