England Women Sevens head coach Charlie Hayter has named his squad for the opening round of the 2019/20 HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series in Glendale, Colorado on 5-6 October 2019 (streamed live on WorldRugby.org).
Jodie Ounsley is set to make her World Series debut after joining from Tyrrells Premier 15s outfit Loughborough Lightning this summer while Abbie Brown will captain the side.
The majority of the group helped England secure qualification on behalf of Great Britain in their penultimate Rugby Europe tournament in Kazan at the end of last season.
This is the second time Glendale has hosted the HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series following its maiden tournament last year.
Drawn in Pool A, England face Russia, Japan and New Zealand on day one.
Hayter said: “We’re really excited for the World Series to get underway.
“Preparations have been good. I’m pleased with the start to the season, where players have worked hard on their strength and conditioning as well as the time we have had together on the pitch.
“We know we have a long season ahead but we’re looking forward to getting started and developing as a group.
“Glendale were great hosts last year and I’m sure the 2019 event will be no different.”
