A brilliant hundred from New Zealand’s Sophie Devine took the White Ferns to a four-wicket win in the final Royal London ODI at Leicester.
Set 220 to win after England collapsed from 156/2 to 219 all out, Devine marshaled her side’s chase perfectly to take the visitors to victory and leave the series at 2-1 to England overall.
Silver linings for England included another encouraging batting performance from Amy Jones – who made 78 on the day – and Katherine Brunt becoming her country’s leading wicket-taker in ODI cricket.
Despite that it was a disappointing end to a fine summer for Heather Knight’s team who now head into the Kia Super League as preparations for November’s ICC World T20 begin in earnest.
