On Saturday 26 March newly formed Hunslet Warriors ladies team held a Fun Day to help raise some much needed funds for the new ladies open age rugby league team and the two very worthy charities that they support.

This is the first ladies team to represent the Hunslet Warriors, and since they are still establishing themselves, it’s unfortunately necessary to raise sufficient money in order for the team to continue playing the sport they love.
The Warriors recently obtained the support and sponsorship of well-known local war veteran, Mr Simon Brown, which is why they have decided to support the Royal British Legion and the UK Blind Veterans. This event seemed like the ideal opportunity to raise funds for these charities also.

Throughout the day there were several activities going on including a raffle; an auction; cake stall and barbecue.
The main attraction, however, was a full contact rugby match where Hunslet Warriors ladies took on players from the Men’s open age team. The lads made a rather interesting choice of kit for the match which made for an extremely amusing game as you’ll see from the pictures!
The final score was a victory to the Ladies at 36-34.
An amazing crowd turned up to support the event and the whole day was thoroughly enjoyable and a great success.
The club raised an amazing total of £1675.37 of which they will be donating £250 each to the Royal British Legion and the UK Blind Veterans.
