Vitality Blast women T20 – league one, match 16

  • +1

Yorkshire (women) vs Essex (women) (match 16, league one – ‘stand-alone’ evening fixture) at Leeds Emerald Headingley Stadium on 29 May 2026

Yorks women came close to achieving their inaugural t20 league-one win, until Essex women ‘applied pressure’ during their final ten deliveries. When summing-up, host commentators felt that Yorks women ‘could have done things better,’ and ‘should have won.’ Batting first, Essex, skipper Grace Scrivens [53 runs(from 40 balls)] was the only batter to score ‘fifty,’ chalking-up sixty runs when partnered by Lissy MacLeod – the best partnership of the match. Between innings, commentators gave ‘credit’ to Yorks women bowlers for containing Essex beyond mid-way. Yorks women batters were on-target to win, twelve runs ahead by mid-way (79/3 vs67/2.) Disaster struck when Yorks women were bowled-out, losing  five wickets for just ten runs. Eva Gray took 3 wickets/conceding 25 runs received ‘enormous credit;’ also Jodi Grewcock (1/13) who bowled the match-winning over. Lead commentator Mike McCann. Weather: dark clouds, with floodlights 18C.
