  • +1

Gloucestershire (women) vs Northamptonshire Steelbacks (women) – match 10 – League Two – at the Seat Unique Stadium, Bristol, on Sunday, 3 May 2026

Steelbacks women bagged their third win, staging a repeat performance of last year’s match; leaving Gloucestershire women yet to open their account. Both innings began by peppering each other’s batters with the same number of unplayable ‘dot’ balls. Gloucs women were unable to form any substantive partnerships as Steelbacks bowlers took at least one wicket each at regular intervals until they were bowled-out. Skipper Anisha Patel – 3/15 (spin) and Bethan Robinson 3/39 (seam) both took 3-fers. In contrast, only two Gloucestershire women bowlers took wickets. Best Gloucs bowler was Alice Bird 3/32. Turning to Steelbacks batters reply, they recovered well from 19/4 with a match-winning century fifth-wicket partnership of 128-runs (undefeated) during which both batters scored ‘fifties.’  Josie Groves 62*not out – pictured hit 8 ’fours’; and 2 ‘sixes’ (on debut, loaned from The Blaze) was partnered by Beth Ascott 53*not out. Seven ‘extras’ from the final ‘over’ nudged Steelbacks women across-the-line. Weather: cloudy with showers forecast for later, 16C.
