The first of Warwickshire’s two annual Wolf Run events takes place on the last weekend of April.
The Wolf Run is a wild running challenge built for those who want more than a standard running event. Set across raw countryside terrain, the event works with nature to create something truly wild and unique. Whether you’re taking on the natural and man-made obstacles in the full course, running with your children in the junior event, or choosing the freedom of trail running, it’s all about stepping outside of your comfort zone, getting back into nature and discovering what you’re truly capable of.
Spring Wolf, taking place from 25-26 April, will see over 6,000 runners take on the 10k or 5k course, alongside Junior Wolf races for 7–17 year olds, or the dog friendly trail running event, Wolf Trails.
For those attending, whether running or supporting, here is everything you need to know to get the best out of your Wolf Run weekend.
Getting there
Spring Wolf is held at The Offchurch Bury, Leamington Spa, CV33 9AW. There is no public transport to the site, so you will need to drive. There is plenty of parking onsite for £5 per car and £15 for a minibus, so vehicle sharing is recommended where possible.
Once you arrive, head straight to the registration tent to get your number and for final preparations… the start line isn’t far away now.
Start times
Waves set off consistently from 9am until 3pm across the weekend. You will be given a personal wave start time in your email confirmation and you must arrive one hour before to register and prepare for your Wolf Run.
Your safety briefing and warm-up will be held 20 minutes before your wave time so head to the start area in good time.
What to wear
Before you pack your kit, it’s worth knowing which course you’re running. The Wolf Run and Junior Wolf take you through water and mud obstacles, while trail routes stick to dry paths through the same stunning landscape.
For the Wolf Run and Junior Wolf, technical fabrics are preferred over cotton as they don’t hold water. Participants will want warm but light layers, not forgetting a towel and warm clothing, with shoes to wear post-race.
Any running gear you feel comfortable in is suitable for the Wolf Trails. For all courses, good running shoes with strong grip are essential. Spikes are not allowed for safety reasons.
Make sure to keep an eye on the weather ahead of the weekend to best prepare your outfit for your post-run celebrations in the event village. There are cold showers and changing rooms available on site.
Bag drop
Onsite there are two key and bag drop facilities, one that is monitored and is charged at £5 per bag, while the other is free but not monitored.
Can you pay on the day?
Yes! You can register and pay on the day for any event as long as it is not sold out. Email info@thewolfrun.com to check if there will be space on the day. Make sure to turn up well in advance so you have time to register your details.
