The winners of the Barclays Women’s Super League’s awards for October have now been confirmed.
Voted for by a combination of the public and a panel of industry experts, the successful individuals for the second month of the campaign are as follows.
Firstly, Manchester United’s Jess Park has been named as Player of the Month after a scintillating October for Marc Skinner’s side.
Having made the switch to the red side of Manchester on the eve of the season, Park has settled into life at United with ease and in October, played a key part in their 1-1 draw against Chelsea before coming on and scoring two goals in a second-half comeback against Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Jana Fernández (London City Lionesses), Lize Kop (Tottenham Hotspur), Lynn Wilms (Aston Villa) and Manchester City’s Iman Beney and Aoba Fujino were also in contention, but Park emerged victorious overall.
Manager of the Month meanwhile has been awarded to Manchester City boss Andrée Jeglertz following an unbeaten month for the Joie Stadium outfit.
Starting October with an 88th minute winner over Arsenal in a 3-2 thriller, this was then followed up by an impressive away victory, with City coming from behind to beat Liverpool at Anfield to extend their winning run in the league to four games.
Jeglertz was up against London City Lionesses manager Jocelyn Precheur, who led his side to two wins from as many games against Liverpool and West Ham United throughout the month of October.
Finally, Kirsty Hanson’s strike against West Ham United has been voted as Goal of the Month for October.
The Aston Villa forward’s effort against the Hammers was pitted against goals from Wieke Kaptein, Anna Sandberg, Chloe Kelly, Lynn Wilms and Keira Walsh, but topped the voting polls.
