  • +1

Lancashire (women) vs Essex (women)  – match 38 – League One –  at Sedbergh School, Cumbria on Wednesday 30 July 2025

Lancashire women gave an ‘all-round great performance’ posting a ‘300’ score to beat Essex women by a sizeable margin. Commentators elsewhere have remarked on the total number of ‘300’ scores posted this season already exceeding the total for the last four years. Lancashire overtook Hampshire on net-red-rate (31 points) to go top-of-table. Lancashire womens’ openers Emma Lamb [142runs(from 109 balls)] partnered by Eve Jones [71(from 115 balls)] first wicket stand added 162 – around the same score as Essex women’s reply. Remaining Lancashire women batters ‘took the game away’. Batting for Essex women, Jodi Grewcock 52 (from 57) made top-score, with ‘fifty’ for Essex women. Commentators concluded that tail-enders ‘didn’t stand a chance’ in the face of ‘fearsome bowling and did well to reduce their run-deficit by half. Best Lancashire women bowler was Alana King who took a 4-fer [4 wickets/conceding 36 runs.] Commentators were Mike Perkins (Sports journalist, Lancs TV) with Allyson Byrne (Women’s Cricket Chat, ex Lancs & Cheshire women.)
