Vitality Blast women T20 – league  two, match 34

  • +1

Glamorgan (women) vs Kent Horses (women) (match 34-league two) double-header fixture at Sophia Gardens Cardiff on Friday 18 July 2025 at 14h30

Far from a memorable Friday finale with the ‘fairy-tale’ ending that commentators had predicted, the match became full of incidents, the last of which cost the hosts the match. That included ‘injuries, a combined total of seventeen ‘wides’ and more seriously, a number of dropped catches. Glamorgan women’s main partnership between skipper Parfitt and top-scorer Beth Gammon [69*not out(from 53 balls)] banked 35 runs. Kent Horses women’s reply was briefly interrupted when Grace Poole’s foot was struck by the ball and she retired as unable to continue. Following ‘dangerous’ Elsa Barnfather 29(26) Horses’ vice-captain Coco Streets ‘seized advantage’ scoring 40 runs from 30 balls. Coco Streets (pictured) match-winning partnership with Ella Darlington 16(16) added fifty-two runs. Remarkably the final match ball went for another dropped catch. Commentators expressed their sympathy, especially for Glamorgan women’s bowler Ella Porter, whose final match ball should have been caught to win the match. Commentators: Ashleigh Crowter (commentator, BBC Wales & lecturer in Journalism at Cardiff University) with Claire B Jenkins (women’s cricket commentator, senior lecturer, former player for Derbyshire & Somerset women.) Supporting the equality campaign ‘Hergametoo.’
