Glamorgan Women vs Middlesex Women at Spytty Park Newport (Wales) – on Sunday 27 April 2025 (10h30)
Middlesex women narrowly beat Glamorgan women by eleven runs, leaving the hosts appreciative of an exciting match that went down to the final over. By mid-way, the visitors looked certain of winning comfortably, boosted by Fifty Trussler’s inaugural ‘fifty,’ that made visitor’s top-score [66 runs from 85 balls.] That gave Middlesex 44 runs with two wickets advantage by mid-way (113/4 vs 157/2.) Tables were turned unexpectedly when ‘All-Rounder’ Emma Jones (who signed for Surrey during 2024 and played her first match for ‘England A’ earlier this year) chalked-up her top-score of 147*not out (from 101 balls.) The ‘England hopeful’ brought Glamorgan women within a whisker of winning the match. Instead, the hosts remained tantalisingly, eleven runs short of victory still with five balls remaining (mis-reported by some sources as ‘four.’) Confounded by their No.11 unable to bat, Emma Jones consolation was scoring a record 147 on Welsh soil, a score that will undoubtedly stay unchallenged for some time. Separately, it should not go unnoticed that Emma Jones had already turned in Glamorgan’s best bowling figures before she went in to bat, earlier taking a 3-fer (3 wickets, conceding 80 runs.)
