With the fourteenth Subway® Women’s League Cup Final set to take place on Saturday 15 March between Chelsea and Manchester City with a 12.15pm kick-off, details regarding activations at Pride Park for the game itself have now been confirmed.
Firstly, supporters can get their hands on a unique and exclusive collectors’ item matchday programme, with the Women’s Professional Leagues (WPLL) having collaborated with football and fashion platform SEASON zine for the final’s publication.
Boasting features with Chelsea’s Lucy Bronze and Manchester City’s Laura Coombs, there’s also sit-downs with club legends and Barclays Women’s Super League icons Eni Aluko and Steph Houghton.
Additionally, there are feature pieces focused on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Environmental Sustainability and Neurodiversity in the women’s game, alongside an insight into the WPLL’s senior leadership team.
Copies can be purchased around the ground from vendors ahead of kick-off for just £5.
Speaking about the collaboration, Felicia Pennant – Editor in Chief of SEASON zine – said: “We’ve made a beautiful programme-zine filled with original cross-channel content that champions Chelsea, Manchester City and the burgeoning women’s football community.
“From interviews with players, to an open letter from Pledgeball’s CEO and a non-exhaustive directory filled with grassroots teams, community initiatives, and more, it’s been thrilling to join forces with the WPLL to break new ground in this way. I sincerely hope this limited edition resonates for years to come.”
On the ground, the pre-match Subway® FanZone at Pride Park will be open from 9.45am until 11.45am, with fans able to enjoy delicious low carbon bites from the competition’s title partner, Subway®, and their Subrina sampling van, and take part in family-friendly football activities to win prizes.
There will be facepainting available for supporters to show their support for their team and free Subway® merchandise, as well as activations from league partner Panini, with those in attendance having the opportunity to get their hands on brand-new Barclays WSL Adrenalyn XL 2025 Official Trading Cards.
And with DJ Char Stape on hand to get the atmosphere building, the fan zone is the place to be ahead of kick-off, with a special fan guide available HERE.
Finally, with a vision of transforming women’s football, WPLL’s ambitions include accelerating positive environmental change within the leagues, with that taking centre stage at this weekend’s Subway® Women’s League Cup Final.
In collaboration with Derby County, key sustainability measures have been implemented for the final, including:
- Venue Sustainability Measures: Leveraging Pride Park’s existing infrastructure, including a bio mass boiler, a borehole water system, and waste management strategies.
- Recycling & Reusables: Ensuring recycling facilities are readily available and promoting the use of reusable cups on matchday.
- Sustainable Catering: Engaging with caterers to offer plant-based and low-carbon meal options, with Cup Final sponsor Subway® providing sustainable food choices.
- Use of Recycled Materials: The matchday programme, amongst other event materials have been sourced with sustainability in mind and are made from recycled materials.
In line with the above, the Women’s Professional Leagues are inviting fans to play their part in protecting where we play through simple, impactful choices including:
- Take the Road Less Travelled: Walk, cycle, or use public transport to get to the game—fewer cars mean less pollution and more time for pre-match excitement.
- Vintage Vibes: Wear a vintage football shirt, swap with a friend, or buy second hand. If all Pride Park attendees switched to second hand clothing, it would be equivalent to taking over 1,400 cars off the road.
- Fuel for Champions: Try a low-carbon or plant-based meal. If everyone at Pride Park did this twice a week, the emissions savings would be equivalent to taking over 1,900 cars off the road.
- Pass It Back: Return your reusable cup to help keep matchdays cleaner and greener.
- Paper Saves: Recycle your printed ticket to ensure it doesn’t end up in a landfill.
