Durham Women have announced the loan signing of Welsh international Alice Griffiths.
The midfielder joins Durham from Southampton for the remainder of the 2024/25 season after completing a deadline day switch to Maiden Castle.
Griffiths started her senior career with Cyncoed Ladies in the Welsh top flight, before going on to join Cardiff Met Ladies in the same division.
After winning a domestic treble in the Welsh Premier League, Griffiths went on to join Charlton Athletic in the Barclays Women’s Championship and made 26 appearances for the Addicks over two seasons.
From there, the 24-year-old made the switch to Southampton following their promotion to the second tier and she has spent the last three seasons with the south coast side.
On the international scene, Griffiths was called-up to the Wales senior squad for the first time 2017 and has been a regular in their ranks ever since – recently helping her nation clinch qualification to UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.
Speaking after joining Durham Griffiths said: “I’m really happy to be here.
“Durham are flying in the league, so I’m joining a team that’s really competitive and it seems like a great place to come.
“I was only here last week [with Southampton], it is clearly a Club that has a lot of support and they have a lot of ambition.
“They’re always in and around the top of the table, so it is great to be a part of that now.”
The midfielder will wear the number 18 shirt, and could make her debut in Durham’s trip to Sheffield United on Sunday, February 2.
