Aitana Bonmatí and Rodri win 2024 Ballon d’Or® awards

The 68th edition of the prestigious Ballon d’Or®awards ceremony took place on Monday 28 October at the grandiose Théâtre du Châtelet, in Paris.

The ceremony was hosted by Didier Drogba and Sandy Heribert and was broadcast in 170 countries.

The winners were unveiled in front of a distinguished audience, including Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, George Weah, Ruud Gullit, Luís Figo, Hristo Stoitchkov and Natalie Portman.

The Men’s Ballon d’Or®, elected by a jury of football journalists representing the top 100 countries in the FIFA Men’s Ranking, was awarded to Rodri (Spain, Manchester City).

The Women’s Ballon d’Or®, elected by a jury of women’s football journalists representing the top 50 countries in the FIFA Women’s Ranking, was awarded to Aitana Bonmatí (Spain, Barcelona).

The Kopa Trophy, for the best young player under the age of 21, elected by former Men’s Ballon d’Or® winners, was awarded to Lamine Yamal (Spain, Barcelona).

The Yashin Trophy, which celebrates the best goalkeeper, elected by the same jury as the Men’s Ballon d’Or®, was awarded to Emiliano Martínez (Argentina, Aston Villa).

The Gerd Müller Trophy, which rewards the top scorer at both club and national team level, was awarded to Harry Kane (England, Bayern Munich) and Kylian Mbappé (France, Paris Saint-Germain / Real Madrid).

The Men’s Club of the Year Trophy, elected by the same jury as the Men’s Ballon d’Or®, was awarded to Real Madrid CF.

The Women’s Club of the Year Trophy, elected by the same jury as the Women’s Ballon d’Or®, was awarded to FC Barcelona.

The Men’s Johan Cruyff Trophy, which rewards the best coach at both club and national team level, elected by the same jury as the Men’s Ballon d’Or®, was awarded to Carlo Ancelotti (Italy, Real Madrid).

The Women’s Johan Cruyff Trophy, which rewards the best coach at both club and national team level, elected by the same jury as the Women’s Ballon d’Or®, was awarded to Emma Hayes (England, Chelsea / USA national team).

The Sócrates Award, from the L’Équipe group and Peace and Sport, which rewards solidarity actions or societal causes carried out by a committed champion, was awarded to Jennifer Hermoso (Spain, Tigres).

For the first time this year, the awards were organised by Groupe Amaury, owner of France Football and L’Équipe, together with UEFA.
