Charlotte Edwards Cup 2024 – match 7 – Stars vs Thunder

  • +1

South East Stars vs Lancashire Thunder at Beckenham, Kent (The County Ground Kent) at 14h30

Stars made a strong start with their first home win of this year’s t20 season, following a back-to-back win away to Storm; only a few days ago. Although Thunder’s batters also made a strong start, only their top-three batters posted double figures (Emma Lamb, Seren Smale and Fi Morris.) With Stars trailing by 15-20 runs by mid-way, Paige Scholfield (pictured) put in a match-winning batting performance with a career-best t20 score [73*not out (from 39 balls).] Crucial partnership with Alice-Davidson-Richards added 67 runs; another 48 runs added with Aylish Cranstone. Commentators who were Mike McCann with Jamie Reid (Sports journalists) added that Thunder bowlers became ‘expensive,’ especially when hit by Paige Scholfield for consecutive ‘fours.’ That turned around what had looked like an impossible run-chase, into a winning position; by a comfortable margin of four overs. Weather was overcast, dry, with dense cumulus clouds 16-20C.
